A genuine hip-hop goddess
Ms. Lauryn Hill is a phenomenon. In the 90’s she singlehandedly set out the course of RnB and hip-hop, first as front lady of the Fugees, later with her solo career. She was a real pioneer in so many ways: the first artist who achieved such an enormous success by combining rapping and singing. At the same time, she stood up for women rights all over the world. Her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was the first hip-hop record to win a Grammy-award for best album. She still has a huge influence on contemporary artists as Cardi B, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce, just to quote a few of her fans. Last year she started treating us to mind-blowing live-performances again and we couldn’t have dreamt of a better way to wrap up this 30th edition of Couleur Café.
