Mali’s most magnificent voice
When her debut album Moussolou smashed all records in 1989, Malian Oumou Sangare quickly became one of the most respected artists of the country. Ever since, she’s been enchanting the planet with her wondrous voice and stupendous melodies, carried by traditional instruments like the djembe and kora. Moreover, this authentic lady uses her touching lyrics to stick up for women’s rights throughout the African continent. It’s nothing short of a towering honor to present “The Songbird of Wassoulou” at Couleur Café, for the very first time in our history.
